Jim Carey , Penguins, his kids
What is each person’s motivation in the video? (In other words, what does each character want?)
At first Jim didn’t want the penguins and then had a change in heart and raised them as his own.
How does the casting influence how you see the characters?
Jim Carey has been known to be a comedian and involved in comical movies, therefore, this movie should be a comedy film.
How do costumes contribute to how you see the characters?
Costumes were casual and business type instead of outrageous.

Setting
Where is the video set?
In New York penthouse
Why/how is this setting significant?
Penguins usually wouldn’t stay in a penthouse when they are use to being in the cold. Typically you see penguins in polar areas.
What stands out about the setting?
Jim changes his house environment to comfort the penguins. He changed the air conditioner temp to extremely cold, and put snow inside his home.

Camera Work
What kinds of shots were used in the video? (Long, wide, etc) How did they affect the story?
Starts off with a close up shot and transforms to a long shot. These affected the story by focusing on one character in the close up, and surprises the viewers in the long shot with the penguins added to the scene.
What kind of camera angles was used?
Front view angles were used the most, and a couple of side views.
What point-of-view do the camera angles suggest? Is the camera acting as the eyes of a character or of the audience?
The camera is acting as the eyes of the audience, because usually if the camera is acting as a character eye they are holding the camera.
How does the camera move? What effect does camera movement have on viewers?
Every time the camera moved it brought different emotions for the characters, as far as elaborating on what the character is trying to portray.
Does the film use slow motion?
Yes, when it moves away from a close up to a long shot.
How is the film edited? What effect does the editing have on you?
How the producer manages to move the camera affects the way I see the movie. I feel more connected with the characters when I view their whole reaction close and as the picture expands the concept gets better.

Mood and Soundtrack
Is there music? How and when is it used? What is its effect? What mood does it create?
Yes, the music is used to show their dance routine. Hearing the music made me get excited and want to see the movie more. Just by having the penguins dance to such a hip song drew my attention.
Are there other sound effects?
Not that I know of
Does the film make use of voiceovers? When? What is their effect?
Yes, when they are doing their dance number Jim says
How else besides music is the mood created?
The characters because they intertwine with the music and creates a flow together.
