Commercial Phone

Title of the work (This should be a link to the work)

Character and Casting

1. Who is in the video?

There are the three people in this commercial two guys and one girl. The guy and girl are focused on the majority of the time while the other guy isn’t.

2. What is each person’s motivation in the video? (In other words, what does each character want?)

The guy who’s focused on for the majority of the time is trying to take a picture in his phone with a girl who’s sleeping, to impress his friend, by showing him the picture of the girl with him. The girl’s closing her eyes; she’s acting as if she’s sleeping to convince the audience that she’s actually sleeping, even though she’s not. The other guy is impressed by looking at the picture.

3. How does the casting influence how you see the characters?

The casting influences, makes me see the character as if the girls tired because she’s on a plane and she’s sleeping. I see the guy who’s focused on the majority of the time as a person who tries to impress his friends by showing his friends that he can get girls. The other guy I see as one of his friend who’s very impressed of him, and he’s very happy he laughs as soon as he gets the picture so it influences me to see it as he’s impressed.

4. How do costumes contribute to how you see the characters?

The costume contributes to how I see the characters because the guy who’s focused on looks very formal because he’s on a plane and he’s traveling which makes it believable why he’s so formal. The other guy is at home, he isn’t dressed as well so the commercial gives it reality and makes us believe that he’s at home. The girl’s wearing a blanket which makes it very believable that she’s comfy and deep in sleep.
